She's back... with twins...

I recognize mama from earlier this summer. Now I know why more plants are being eaten. She's had twins!

Hummingbird Silhouette

I like that you can see his tongue sticking out in this silhouette I took last evening.

king of the garden

This little guy was so busy defending his turf from all the other hummingbirds that he let me get a couple feet away from him. Tough little guy.

crocisma

The crocisma just started blooming this week here. It has really filled in this year. The hummingbirds are using it, but I have yet to get a picture of it. I love it's bright color.

Who knew? Bee Balm also attracts frogs.

I was kind of surprised to see this little guy hanging out on the bee balm today. I guess the hummingbirds will have to share.

A hummingbird and her cardinal flower

The cardinal flower has only just opened here this week and it is already the favorite of the moment. I love this flower also, as it actually survives in Wisconsin. I think I need a few more:) It also does well in shady or wet areas which is a plus too.

It's a baby boy!

If you look real close(click on the picture to see it closer) you will see a tiny red dot on his throat. It's a baby boy!

We took a quick trip to Madison this weekend. Here are some pictures from the botanical gardens. They were definitely worth a visit.

Mandevilla finally blooming

It took a while but my mandevilla vine is starting to bloom. The blooms can be either red or pink depending on the temperature.

The black and blue salvia and nasturiums are doing great on my deck this year.

This huge pumpkin plant is thriving as well. I think it may take over the whole yard.

Hummingbird Using The Bee Balm

Took this today of a hummer using the bee balm. In the third picture, if you look closely, you can see her checking out a mosquito.

I am a blue flower...

You Are a Blue Flower

A blue flower tends to represent peace, openness, and balance.
At times, you are very delicate like a cornflower.
And at other times, you are wise like an iris.
And more than you wish, you're a little cold, like a blue hydrangea.

Hummingbirds love Lantana

Looks like my idea of putting Lantana in my window boxes are working. I've seen several hummingbirds using the Lantana this summer:)

Bee Balm Time

July always reminds me of bee balm. I love this plant here in Wisconsin and so do the hummingbirds. This is the Jacob Cline variety and spreads well and is easy to split and transplant.

Cedar Waxwing

Here is a bird we don't see around here very much. My husband spotted this cedar waxwing up in a pine tree last night. I love it's cool super hero like mask.
