A hummingbird and her cardinal flower

The cardinal flower has only just opened here this week and it is already the favorite of the moment. I love this flower also, as it actually survives in Wisconsin. I think I need a few more:) It also does well in shady or wet areas which is a plus too.

How lovely to have Hummingbirds in your garden. I have the occasional pigeon but thats about all.
I am an English gardener so although I don't have the same wildlife as you do in America I do have Red Hot Pokers.

I need to plant some of that gorgeous Cardnal Flower so the hummers will linger longer in the yard. I put out a feeder this past week but they have only flittered by it.

I like the shots of the hummer on the flowers. They are more attractive than on the feeder and show what flowers the hummer prefers.
