Summer has arrived.It's memorial day!

First hummingbird picture which is not great. It was taken thru a screened window of a female hummer. Hope to get a better picture soon.

My new garden is now planted and growing.

It is 90 degrees and the plants are finally growing:)

Daisies are not a hummingbird plant, but one I have to have in my garden. I think I have had some in every yard I have owned in the past.

More invasive Dame's rocket.

Last year and this year my hummingbirds have liked the verbena in my hanging basket.

firebush

While going into Walmart today to get pepper plants, I spotted a lone firebush. This is supposed to be a great plant. It is in Walmart condition, but hopefully it will do better now. I think the hummingbirds will love it.

more blooms

The Fox gloves are blooming!

Here are some violas that reseeded from last year.

Last year I was excited to see this purple flower blooming in the field behind our house. I thought it was wild phlox. Turns out it is Dame's Rocket which is an invasive plant here in Wisconsin. I still like it better than the garlic mustard which is taking over the state.

My neighbor's lilacs

My neighbor has huge lilac bushes. Luckily they are right on our property line, so I get to enjoy them too. You can smell them when you walk outside today.

more flowers despite the rain

Finally! I located black and blue salvia in Wisconsin. This is one of the best hummerplants.

I must think I live some place tropical or I wouldn't have bought a hibiscus. This will be spending some nights inside until it warms up a bit more here.

I'm also trying Gardenmeister Fuschia for the first time. It looks like a very pretty plant. I may have to slide it to the shadier part of the deck when & if it ever gets hot here.

orioles have arrived last friday

I've heard orioles prefer Welch's jelly. Good to see Mr. & Mrs. Oriole back again.

new plants, new flower bed

My first hummingbird sighting of the year was on the 7th!

I found this Navajo pink salvia at The Stonebank nursery. I had to pick up a couple red ones as well:) Looks like a good plant so far.

A new salvia which I found at Piggly Wiggly of all places. It is Salvia Patens Oceana Blue. After reading about it I found out it may not be the best plant. It hates heat and hummidty and may not last the summer.

After laboring the past two weekends we have a new flower bed. Ahh! The possiblilities for it are endless. I'll have to post another picture later in the summer.
