The woodpecker and the sunflower
This is the first time I've seen a woodpecker on a sunflower plant. He seems to be enjoying it.

This is a blog where I can ramble on about my plants, especially my hummingbird garden, which is my passion. I have been gardening since childhood, but this is only my fourth year as a hummingbird gardener. It is also my fourth year gardening and living in Wisconsin.

You're right, I've never seen one on a sunflower. Do they eat seeds? Maybe there are some good bugs in this one.
I didn't know woodpeckers liked sunflowers. That is really neat that you got a picture.
I've seen this woodpecker at my seed feeder as well. I don't think seeds are their favorite food, but they do eat them.
