Upclose with Mr. Hummingbird and his cuphea plant

I was able to get outside with my better lense and snapped a couple more pictures of Mr. Hummingbird today. Works better than through the window. At first he was shy and didn't want to be photographed, but eventually he decided to cooperate.

You must have a great camera to be able to get the wings so clear - and be very good at using it. I can't even take focused pictures of plants :(

You did a great job photographing your little hummie! We have several different hummingbirds in Southern California, but the Ruby Throat is not one of them. He looks well fed!

And your hummingbird garden is absolutely gorgeous. I started gardening for the hummingbirds and butterflies a few years ago, but haven't made the progress you have. I'm trying to plant native plants, but it's hard to find plants that don't look like they've been plucked up from the desert. I have several specimens that they are attracted to, but I also supplement the birds' food source with hummingbird feeders.

I was reading further and saw your Candy Corn vine. I love it! Too bad it's not native to SoCal! For now, I'll just have to enjoy your pics!
