goldfinch, sunflowers and a hummingbird moth

This goldfinch was really enjoying this sunflower plant. I've also spotted lots of hummingbird moths since I've been back.

That goldfinch is a happy camper with those sunflowers. :) They like the blackeyed susans & stick verbena in my garden. Those hummingbird moths are really crazy looking, I've never seen one of those before until someone else posted a pic of one. I'm not having any luck with hummingbirds though. I've seen a few this year and I put out a feeder for them but they don't linger long. Any recommendations?

I had my first for the year hummingbird moth a few days ago.I was so excited to get a few pictures of it. The goldfinches are eating the sunflowers seeds just as soon as they are fully opened. I love summertime!

Thanks! We are lucky to have lots of goldfinches this year.

PG are you changing the nectar every couple of days? If the nectar goes bad(sometimes after only 2-3 days) they may not stick around. Hope you are seeing some more soon.
